SHADES OF US (2022)

Public installation in the new extension of Järvenskolan, Katrineholm, Sweden
Shades of Us is a spatial installation consisting of textile and light suspended from the ceiling in two glass shafts between the old school building and the new extension. Through a weightless and melodic narrative, I aim to convey the story of transformation and process. This is meant to symbolize both the transformation that the city of Katrineholm is undergoing, and also to reflect the personal journey we each make, within ourselves and together in life.
The work can be interpreted as a reminder that what we see does not always represent a fully nuanced picture, that each of us is made up of many shades that meet and form a whole. At the same time, it can also be read as the process that begins when we encounter one another, and how together we can create something new, a combination of our shades.
